NASADAD's Women's Services Network

Women's Services Network Logo The State Women’s Services Coordinators work together as the Women's Services Network (WSN), a specialty network of the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) under the auspices of the National Treatment Network and in collaboration with the National Prevention Network. SAMHSA Grant Programs

  • Center for Substance Abuse Treatment
    The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), promotes the quality and availability of community-based substance abuse treatment services for individuals and families. CSAT works with States and community-based groups to improve and expand treatment services under the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant.
  • Grant Program for Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women (PPW) Grantees
    The purpose of these grants is to expand the availability of comprehensive, high quality residential treatment, recovery support, and family services for pregnant and postpartum women who face alcohol and other drug problems, and their minor children.

    This report brings together the most recent research, resources, and tools on mental health issues in women and explores the role gender plays in diagnosing, treating, and coping with mental illness. It outlines action steps in an effort to address the burden of mental illness on women's lives and increase their capacity for recovery.
  • Guidance to States: Treatment Standards for Women with Substance Use Disorders
    The Women's Services Network (WSN) of the National Association of State Alcohol/Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) partnered with Federal and State stakeholders to craft this 2008 guidance document on developing standards to address the treatment needs of women with substance use disorders (SUDs). It provides implementation strategies to assist States in developing treatment standards for women.
  • Substance-Exposed Infants: State Responses to the Problem
    This 2009 report prepared by the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare describes the findings of a review of State policies on substance exposed infants, variations among States in both policy and practice, and opportunities for improving interagency collaborations.
  • Funding Family-Centered Treatment for Women With Substance Use Disorders
    This 2008 resource paper is a companion to the Family-Centered Treatment monograph and assists treatment providers and State substance abuse agencies to identify and access potential sources of funding for comprehensive family-centered treatment. The paper includes definitions of funding terminology and current methods of advanced cross-system funding strategies. Highlights of the experiences developing an effective comprehensive services financing strategy are provided. Finally, concrete steps on getting started and recommendations for treatment providers and State agencies are provided.
