This National conference-convened September 14 to 16, 2011 in National Harbor, MD-promoted multidisciplinary, collaborative advances in practice, research, and policy. The conference was designed to lead to effective, coordinated, and culturally relevant services for children, youth, and families affected by SUDs and child abuse or neglect. The conference brought together a variety of service providers and professionals and focused on family-based models, health care reform, sustainability of effective programs, and the role of SUDs in child protection.

This summit-convened June 23 to 24, 2010 in Old Town Alexandria, VA-was hosted by the National Abandoned Infants Assistance (AIA) Resource Center. The conference showcased exemplary policies and practices for identifying pregnant women who use substances and their newborns; referring them to child welfare, treatment, and other community services; and developing plans of safe care for the newborns.

This 12-hour, self-paced course helps counselors and other practitioners working with women to better understand women's substance use, treatment and recovery experiences and effective interventions for women.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment has developed the Women's Addiction Services Leadership Institute (WASLI) to foster the growth of leaders who are able to advocate for, develop, and spear-head initiatives which provide for the needs of women with substance use disorders, their families and their communities.
